What is Radio-Frequency (RF) Microneedling?

RF Microneedling, also known as radiofrequency microneedling, combines two skin-rejuvenating technologies in one treatment.

Very fine needles create controlled microchannels in the skin, while radiofrequency energy is delivered deeper into the tissue. This controlled stimulation encourages your skin to repair itself and produce more collagen and elastin — the proteins responsible for firmness, strength and elasticity.

Because the radiofrequency energy works below the surface of the skin, RF Microneedling can be particularly useful when we want to improve skin laxity, crepey skin, fine lines, acne scarring and uneven texture, rather than simply giving the skin a temporary glow.

At Facebox London, we can treat the face and eye area or extend treatment across the face, neck and eyes where skin laxity and textural changes are more widespread.

We’re also currently including Exosomes with RF Microneedling at no additional cost. These are used alongside the treatment as an extra skin-supporting step, designed to complement your treatment and support the skin during the recovery process.

What can RF Microneedling help with?

RF Microneedling is ideal when the concern isn’t just one line or one area, it’s more about improving the overall quality, firmness and texture of your skin. It can help with: • Fine lines and wrinkles • Loose or mildly sagging skin • Crepey skin, including around the eye area • Acne scarring • Uneven skin texture • Enlarged pores • Loss of firmness and elasticity • Early signs of ageing • Skin laxity through the face and neck The aim isn’t to change your face. It’s to encourage stronger, healthier-looking skin and gradually improve the areas that are starting to feel a little less firm or smooth than they used to.

What to expect from your RF Microneedling appointment

Your appointment will always start with a consultation so we can chat through your concerns, take a look at the treatment area and understand what you’d like to achieve. We will take time to understand what has been bothering you, explain what this treatment can realistically do for you, and answer any questions you have.

Everything is tailored 100% to you, and your unique goals. If you decide to go ahead, we'll apply a numbing cream, if appropriate, and begin the treatment. We won't start until you're 100% happy. At the end of the appointment you’ll also be given clear aftercare advice so you know exactly what to do afterwards and how to get the best from your results.

RF Microneedling FAQs

What is the difference between microneedling and RF microneedling?

Traditional microneedling creates tiny controlled channels in the skin to stimulate its natural repair response and collagen production. RF Microneedling does this too, but also delivers radiofrequency energy deeper into the skin.

That additional energy makes RF Microneedling particularly useful when we want to work on concerns such as skin laxity, firmness, deeper acne scarring and crepey skin. Standard microneedling can still be a brilliant option when your main concern is texture, pores, superficial scarring or general skin quality.

What does radio frequency microneedling do?

Radiofrequency microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries while delivering heat energy below the skin’s surface. This stimulates the natural healing process and encourages new collagen and elastin production.

Over time, the skin can look firmer, smoother and more even, with improvements continuing to develop for several months after treatment.

Is microneedling with RF worth it?

It can be very worthwhile if you’re trying to improve several concerns at once, particularly skin laxity, fine lines, acne scarring and uneven texture.

It is a bigger investment than standard microneedling, so we wouldn’t recommend RF simply because it sounds more advanced. We’ll look at your skin first and advise whether RF Microneedling, Pen Microneedling or another treatment is actually the best fit for what you want to achieve.

Is one session of RF microneedling enough?

You can see improvement after one session, but RF Microneedling is usually most effective as a course. For more noticeable concerns such as acne scarring, laxity or significant textural changes, we generally recommend 3 treatments so the collagen-building effect can develop progressively.

How much does RF microneedling usually cost?

The price depends on the area being treated and whether you book a single session or a course. At Facebox London, one RF Microneedling session for the face and eyes is £450, while the face, neck and eyes is £650.

A course of 3 face and eye treatments is currently £997, while a course of 3 for the face, neck and eyes is £1,300. Klarna is available, and we’re currently including an Exosomes treatment at no additional cost for a limited time.
